April 7, 2009, Guide Bulletin Provides Important Information About the Home Affordable Modification ProgramApril 7, 2009 Single Family Advisory
In today's special Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide Bulletin, we are announcing a few updates to the Home Affordable Modification program, including:
- Revising eligibility requirements to include that borrowers must currently have a monthly housing expense-to-income ratio that is greater than 31 percent to be eligible for the program.
- Adding the Home Affordable Modification Borrower Qualification Worksheet to the secure Home Affordable Modification Web page.
- Revising the name of the Home Affordable Modification Program Workout Plan (Form 3156) to Home Affordable Modification Program Trial Period Plan and the authorized changes that must be made to the Trial Period Plan.
- Updating the Logo Terms of Use to include guidelines around using the Making Home Affordable logo.
In addition, you should be soliciting eligible delinquent borrowers for a modification under the program. If you have not already begun solicitation efforts, you must begin soliciting eligible borrowers no later than April 15, 2009.
As a reminder, you must use the Program Performance Reporting Spreadsheet to report your weekly Home Affordable Modification activity each Monday.
We appreciate the extensive efforts of Freddie Mac Servicers to assist delinquent borrowers by implementing the Home Affordable Modification program. By reaching out to borrowers through this option, we can work together to be a critical and stabilizing force for the nation's families and their communities.
