GoldWorks – Connectivity Options

GoldWorks® is available 24 hours a day. Choose between a leased-line or a dial-up option for your connection. We recommend the TCP/IP protocol because it’s easy to use and gives you access to the largest number of products and services.

Leased-line Connection:

A leased-line provides a dedicated network connection that can handle large amounts of data. Multiple bandwidth and backup options are available to meet a wide range of customer needs. Freddie works with AT&T Global Network Services (AGNS) to facilitate the leased-line installation and support. Most leased-line members deploy a firewall or router utilizing access control lists between their LAN and the GoldWorks network to isolate their LAN from undesired traffic.

With a leased-line connection, you’ll get:

  • Two-way connection to other GoldWorks members, including Freddie Mac
  • Fixed monthly fee
  • Shared access across your workplace for multiple users
  • Onsite equipment and the circuit managed by AGNS

Dial-up Connection:

With a dial-up connection, users dial into GoldWorks using a modem. A dial-up connection is typically used for accessing the network by a single user or a small group of users. In general, the dial-up connection is used for handling smaller amounts of data on the GoldWorks network.

A dial-up connection will provide you with:

  • One-way, outbound connection to other GoldWorks members, including Freddie Mac
  • Standard Windows dial-up networking can be used to dial into the network
  • Your company is charged only for the time you are connected to GoldWorks
  • Once connected to the network, AGNS manages the connection
