2007 Adoption Expo Helps Families Through Adoption Experience

More than 2,000 people gathered at the recent Freddie Mac Foundation’s Adoption Expo to receive information and support for their adoption experience. The Capital area’s 2007 Adoption Expo showcased adoption agencies, workshops, face-to-face discussions with experts and adoptive parents as well entertainment for children and adults.

The free Adoption Expo showcased a number of adoption agencies and services in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., including:

  • More than 30 public and private agencies and service providers specializing in Domestic Adoption, International Adoption, Special Needs Adoption, Post-Adoption Services, and Foster Care
  • Hundreds of people attended the various expert-led workshops at Adoption Expo to get information and support.
  • Workshops for prospective adoptive and foster parents, as well as new adoptive parents, highlighting the adoption process and available support systems
  • Parent-to-parent discussion groups featuring families who will share their experiences in adoption and foster care
  • Information about children available for adoption in the Washington metropolitan area and beyond
  • Renowned authors and books on adoption

In addition, Barbara Harrison, NBC4 anchor and the host the Foundation’s Wednesday’s Child program and Alana Beard, Washington Mystics player, welcomed Expo visitors.
