FREDDIE MAC MEDIA ADVISORY

Freddie Mac Urges Evacuating Homeowners to Take Key Papers To Expedite Post-Hurricane Wilma Relief

In addition to flashlights, food and water, national mortgage investor Freddie Mac strongly recommends that evacuating homeowners take along several important papers evacuating that can help expedite financial relief and insurance claims following Hurricane Wilma.

These important papers include copies of:

  • Your monthly mortgage statement. This has your mortgage company’s phone number plus account information that will help them expedite relief made available after the storm by Freddie Mac or other mortgage companies.
  • Your homeowners’ insurance agent’s name and phone number;
  • Your checkbook, bank statements, and credit card information;
  • Personal identification such as a birth certificate, driver’s license, and social security card.

Keep these important papers close at hand in a safe watertight container, preferably one that you can lock. For more information about Freddie Mac disaster relief visit the company’s website at www.freddiemac.com.

Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned company chartered by Congress in 1970 to support homeownership and rental housing. Freddie Mac fulfills its mission by purchasing residential mortgages and mortgage-related securities, which it finances primarily by issuing mortgage-related securities and debt instruments in the capital markets. Over the years, Freddie Mac has made home possible for one in six homebuyers in America.
