FREDDIE MAC OPENS FREE, ON-SITE HEALTH CENTER FOR EMPLOYEESNew Innovative Benefit to Help Employees Maintain Healthy Lifestyle, Work/life BalanceMcLean, VA – Starting this week, employees at Freddie Mac (FRE: NYSE), one of the nation's largest investors in residential mortgages, will have access to a flexible and convenient health care service at the company's new on-site health center. Located at Freddie Mac's headquarters in McLean, VA, the new health center – called the Freddie Mac Wellness Center – will be open five days a week during normal business hours to accommodate employees' work schedules at no cost to them. "We are providing this benefit because we value the health and vitality of our employees and are committed to helping them maintain a healthy lifestyle. We also believe on-site health and wellness care will enable employees to better meet both their professional and personal obligations," said Mike Hager, senior vice president, Human Resources Department, Freddie Mac. Hager added: "By providing easier access to preventative care and other minor treatments, we anticipate that over the next 12 to 18 months, the company will realize substantial cost savings. We also anticipate that this benefit will help minimize direct health and medical costs and increase productivity among employees." The new Freddie Mac Wellness Center will be available to both full and part-time employees from Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM except for holidays. For employees' convenience, appointments will not be necessary for emergency and urgent care, however, appointments will be necessary for non-emergency care. The Center will be managed and staffed by dedicated health professionals from Whole Health Management, a leading provider of on-site health care services, and will include an on-site nurse practitioner available five days a week, a doctor two days a week and a dietician one day a week. The Wellness Center will provide a majority of health and wellness services including treatments of minor injuries and illnesses, immunizations including allergy and flu shots, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, throat cultures, urinalysis, electrocardiograms, hearing and vision tests, laboratory testing including thyroid function and complete blood count and PSA tests, medical and specialized referrals, and nutritional counseling. The Wellness Center is a supplement to the current medical plans provided by Freddie Mac and is not intended to replace services provided by employee's primary care physician.
