FREDDIE MAC APPOINTS TIMOTHY MCBRIDE TO HEAD GOVERNMENT RELATIONS DIVISIONMcLean, VA – Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE) announced today that Timothy J. McBride would join the company as senior vice president of government relations, effective January 3, 2005. McBride will report to the Office of the Chairman. "I am pleased that Tim is joining the Freddie Mac team," explained Richard F. Syron, chairman and CEO. "Tim is an outstanding person of the highest ethics who has a deep commitment to our goal of expanding homeownership in America. In addition to his demonstrated strengths in managing complex issues both in business and in government, he also has a terrific reputation as a manager. Tim's skill in this area will help us be as efficient as possible in our activities." In this position, McBride will be responsible for overseeing the corporation's legislative activities at the federal, state and local levels, as well as its relationship with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and other agencies within the executive branch. McBride's career spans two decades and includes leadership roles with two Fortune 100 companies as well as key positions with the Administration of former President George H. W. Bush. In the Bush Administration, McBride served as assistant to the President and director of White House Management and Administration, where he managed the daily operations of the White House as well as served as a senior advisor to the President on policy initiatives and political agenda. During his tenure, he also held the positions of assistant secretary of Commerce for Trade Development and special assistant to the President. He also worked for a number of years in the Office of the Vice President of the United States. Most recently, McBride served as vice president, external affairs/public policy for Daimler Chrysler Corporation, where he was responsible for directing Chrysler's federal lobbying and formulating public policy on a variety of issues. Prior to that, he worked at Sun Company, Incorporated as director of communications. Active in the community, McBride serves on the board of Discovery Creek Children's Museum. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his family.
