Freddie Mac strongly supports credit education and financial literacy, believing that well-informed and well-prepared homebuyers are on the best path to enjoying successful and sustainable homeownership. As part of that ongoing commitment, Freddie Mac developed CreditSmart, a multilingual financial education curriculum and consumer outreach initiative designed to help consumers build and maintain better credit, make sound financial decisions, and understand the steps to sustainable homeownership. CreditSmart increases consumers' financial understanding by teaching life-long money management skills and showing consumers how to avoid costly mistakes.

Wide Appeal

CreditSmart is available in English, Spanish (CreditSmart Español), plus Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese (CreditSmart Asian). The multilingual CreditSmart curricula were each developed with great care and participation from a variety of community groups who helped direct not only the substance and presentation approach, but also the layout and style of workshop materials.

Evolving to Meet Marketplace Needs

The CreditSmart curriculum is constantly evolving to ensure we remain attuned to the needs of the different demographic segments in the marketplace. Recently, we even sponsored research to understand the financial and credit education needs of women in particular, especially as they relate to homeownership.
