Freddie Mac, Employees Help Families Become Homeowners
Freddie Mac, our employees and D.C. Habitat for Humanity have teamed up to help local families move out of public housing and become homeowners. U.S. Postal Service carrier Nakia Hargrove and her four children – along with five other families – will be moving into their new, energy-efficient home thanks to our partnership.
Last year, more than 800 Freddie Mac employees took part in our annual Making a Community (MAC) Week and at monthly team builds to help build the houses and strengthen the Northeast D.C. community. Freddie Mac donated nearly $250,000 to Habitat for the project.
Employees joined homeowners at a recent home dedication ceremony. Hargrove said she and her children are looking forward to simple pleasures like cookouts, meeting their new neighbors, and even raking leaves.

"Freddie Mac plays an important role in the president's Making Home Affordable Program to help families across America keep their homes. And locally, through our community investments, we partner with nonprofits like Habitat who are making life better for children and their families," said Ralph F. Boyd Jr., Community Relations EVP.
