Loan Prospector Helps Lenders to Reach More Borrowers

Our lenders need speed, accuracy and fairness in assessment when submitting loans for sale to Freddie Mac. That's why we offer Loan Prospector® . It's Freddie Mac's automated underwriting service that allows lenders to reach out to more borrowers and also provides feedback messages that identify borrowers that can qualify for affordable loan programs. It leverages the latest data and networking technology to enable enhanced information sharing and streamlined processing.

Homeownership Education and Counseling

We’ve learned that homeownership education and counseling helps to keep people in their homes. So, Freddie Mac has taken a leadership position in supporting and advancing the homeownership education and counseling industry. In fact, we were the first to develop an empirical study proving that homeownership education and counseling lowers delinquency rates. We are making a concerted effort to increase the capacity, consistency and comprehensiveness of the homeownership counseling industry. Here are three areas where we focused our attention:

  • CounselorMax is a web-based case management tool for housing counselors supported by Freddie Mac that enhances the capacity and productivity of housing counselors. CounselorMax automates housing counseling processes and supports client intake, tracking, follow-up and data reporting, all from one easy-to-use, web-based system. Learn more about CounselorMax.

  • Loan Prospector Outreach (LPO) is a web-based tool that provides housing counselors with an indication of a client’s readiness to apply for a mortgage. When a client is "Ready to Apply" for a loan, the counselor can refer the client to a lender with confidence.
