Division of Enterprise Risk Oversight
Our Analyst Associate Program (AAP) is designed to equip you with the knowledge you'll need to accelerate your career, right out the gate. Not only will you learn about operations within the ERO division, but you'll also have hands-on experience in risk management, auditing, investments and customer management. You'll collaborate with senior-level Accountants, Financial Analysts, Researchers and Risk Managers, all of whom want to make sure that, upon program completion, you are rigorously trained and ready to tackle the challenges of your Freddie Mac career.
During our year-long program, you will rotate through three different departments in the ERO division. Upon the conclusion of your rotations, you'll sit down with department managers and work together to make sure your career is headed in the direction you'd like to go.
The candidates we seek must have…
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, quantitative finance, mathematics or statistics
- Incredible quantitative and analytical skills
- An interest in learning about credit risk, market risk, operational risk, models and methods, policy development and oversight mitigation strategies
- A 3.2 GPA or higher

The Investments & Capital Markets (I & CM) division at Freddie Mac is charged with making sure we invest in only the most lucrative opportunities that will grow our portfolio and ensure that we are doing everything possible to make home possible for people in America.
As a participant in our Analyst Associate Program (AAP) you'll be given the opportunity to learn more than just standard accounting practices – you'll participate in intensive classes designed to teach you everything you need to know about our business, including the fixed income and mortgage markets, derivatives, economics, statistics and accounting. You'll spend the first year of your career rotating through several areas of the I & CM division. These assignments will provide you with hands-on portfolio management experience, including credit analysis, research and risk management practices. You'll learn first-hand what it's like to work at a fast-paced trading desk, and you'll be responsible for identifying investment opportunities and monitoring portfolio performance – all things that have a major impact on our bottom line.

The Investments & Capital Markets Intern will have the opportunity to work in the investments, debt funding, mortgage funding, research or trading groups. You will become proficient in financial market analysis by providing research support for capital markets. Interns may learn about credit default swap pricing and conduct analysis in support of the asset and liability group. Additionally, interns may assist with identifying and analyzing trends in support of the mortgage desk.
Required experience and skills:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Engineering
- Interest in a challenging career in fixed-income finance
- Strong qualitative skills
- Individuals with experience developing and designing financial applications are highly encouraged to apply
