Anurag Saksena

Anurag Saksena joined Freddie Mac as senior vice president and chief enterprise risk officer in August 2005. He is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to CEO Charles E. "Ed" Haldeman, Jr.

In this role, Saksena is responsible for providing an independent, cross-divisional assessment of Freddie Mac's management of and exposure to market risk, operational risk, enterprise risk modeling and related activities.

Saksena has 20 years of experience in establishing and managing risk frameworks in organizations of varying size, complexity and cultures. Most recently, he led Enterprise Risk Management at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), a global financial services subsidiary of General Motors. During his five years at GMAC, Saksena crafted the foundation and strategy for a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework, established firm-wide minimum risk standards, and led the development of best-practice risk measurement models for market, credit and operational risks. He also designed and conducted a firm-wide risk management education and awareness program.

In addition, Saksena founded Enterprise Risk Advisors, LLC in Minneapolis, a risk management consultancy that focused on the development and implementation of enterprise-risk solutions for financial and non-financial organizations. He has also held risk and portfolio management positions of increasing responsibilities at Société Générale in New York, Royal Bank Financial Group in Toronto and Great-West Life Assurance Company in Winnipeg.

Saksena is a graduate of the executive development program at Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. He earned his doctorate in theoretical physics from the University of Manitoba, Canada and his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Delhi, India.
